Some sort of obnoxious stomach bug has taken up residence in my body so I've been largely housebound since late Friday night. Womp womp. I started to feel a bit better - if a little headache-y and dehydrated - around dinner time last night, so I made soup. (This one - minus the champagne and with some celery and leeks.) It was pretty good, but I only managed a couple bites before I felt queasy again. So I slipped off too bed quite early - 8:30 egads! I'm such an old lady. This morning has been better, but my stomach is still a bit tetchy so it's water and broth and small bites until my silly self sorts this thing out.
And no Mass today. Or last night. Which is particularly disappointing because I joined the choir on Thursday and this weekend was supposed to be my first time singing with them. I feel flaky - even though skipping was 100% the right thing to do. Next weekend!! Next weekend I will sing and sing until my little heart is content.
In other news, I got my acceptance letter from Maternidad La Luz on Friday! They require 10 book reports before we start and, as luck would have it, I own most of them, yet have read only one of them. They also send along a list of suggested books to bring with you for your personal library. I'm missing most of those, too. How I'm missing key books in the midwifery canon is beyond me. Oh well...it's just an excuse to buy more :)

Sitting home by myself has given me plenty of time to stress and obsess over THE GREAT MOVE TO TEXAS (that's how it sounds in my head...all caps...all the time.) Because the program doesn't start until September, it's too early to really search for a place to live or make any concrete plans. And that fact is driving me nuts. I'm excited to go AND it's a big move for just me and the dogs AND I love the adventure and starting a new chapter AND I'm really going to miss everybody that I love here in Merry Ol' Maryland AND I know there are equally wonderful people waiting for me El Paso AND what if my Spanish doesn't come back as well as hoped AND what if I can't find a place to live AND what will it be like living in a desert when I'm used to the ocean and green mountains AND how am I going to stop for food and such on the road by myself with two dogs that I can't leave in the car because it will be August AND oh my golly goshness I can't wait to get there and learn and be around like-minded people and finally DO all the things I've been dreaming of for year and years and years.
Yes, there is a fair bit of anxiety there. But mostly excitement. I am currently accepting advice regarding cross-country move planning. Also if anyone wants to road-trip with me, I'd be delighted to have the company. And/or rent a pet-friendly house with me and be mah roomie. That would be very cool, too.
(On a side note: I've discovered the El Paso Conservatory of Music which offers private voice lessons. I fully plan on studying music whenever I can to balance out the birth and babies stuff. Maybe this would be a good place to go? Also according to the info packet, there is a chiropractor that offers 50% off his services to MLL students. That sounds heavenly! But there is only one health food store in all of the city...hmph.)
