First, boil some water for tea. Plain ol' Skullcap is a particular favorite of mine but Yogi tea makes a great Bedtime tea too that will do a lot to help relieve pain and tension. Pour the water over the tea bag or loose herbs and cover. Let steep for 20 min or so.
Set the kettle to boil again.
Second, get a basin that is large enough for your feet and sprinkle some hops flowers, roman chamomile, lavender, or any other relaxing nervine herbs you may have on hand. In this case, I put in dried hops flowers and several drops of roman chamomile and lavender essential oils since I didn't have many other herbs on hand. Pour in the boiling water from the kettle and cover with a towel. Alternate adding hot and cold water until the desired temperature is reached. It should be HOT - but not so hot as to burn you. Keep it covered with a towel to keep the vapors and goodness inside.
Third, your tea should be finished steeping by now. Go get that.
Fourth, take out some peppermint essential oil and put few drops on your neck and temples. If you are really prepared, slap an ice pack on your neck.
Lastly, get into a super comfy chair and stick your feetsies in the nice herbal bath. Sip your tea, close your eyes, and try to let everything just sink into the cushions. Soften, soften, soften. Hang out as long as you can.
In my experience, migraines come along to tell us we are doing too much, thinking too much, and not taking excellent care of our bodies. Self-care is what is called for here. Not powering through.
Now, go take a nap, if you are able.
